So, we made it through 2025, and what a challenging year it has been.
Despite the negativity that often dominates the news, this has been an extremely busy and successful year for the business. The year began with a major milestone in the form of a company buyout, followed by the retirement of Steve Roberts in March. Steve handed the reins fully to Andrew Booth and myself, and since then the business has continued to move forward with confidence and momentum.
This year has seen a 30% increase in quotations, alongside a significant rise in jobs won. This growth has resulted in a record-breaking profit year for the company. It serves as a reminder that, while the market can be challenging, success is still very much achievable through innovation, adaptability, and the willingness to invest in better ways of working.
Our team has embraced these changes exceptionally well. In my 20 years in surveying, I can confidently say that making the move to full 3D data collection and scanning is my greatest professional achievement to date. The team is full of talent, passion, and a strong ability to adopt and excel with new technology.
Looking ahead, we are pleased to confirm that we will be taking delivery of an MLX scanner towards the end of this year or early in 2026. This is technology we have been reviewing for some time, and we now feel ready to take the leap into SLAM technology. The potential benefits are significant, and it increasingly felt like a case of whether we could afford not to invest in it.
The team has also continued to grow this year, with the addition of another trainee, alongside colleagues completing and passing their CIOB portfolios and apprenticeship courses through college. This reflects our continued dedication to professional development, CPDs, and maintaining high standards across the business.
I expect 2026 to be similarly challenging, but if we continue to adapt, remain motivated, embrace challenge, and keep innovating, I am confident we will continue to grow and succeed within the surveying industry.
I would like to thank the entire team for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. Without you, none of this would be possible. I am extremely proud of what we have achieved together and look forward to continuing the company’s journey with you.
I would also like to thank our suppliers for their support during the early stages of our new processes and developments, and for the excellent training and financial support provided as we embedded these changes.
Most importantly, I would like to thank our clients. We appreciate every single survey we are trusted with, whether it is a one-day topographic survey, a measured building survey, a boundary dispute, a large building project, or a long-term topographic survey. After 38 years in the profession, our continued success would not be possible without your trust and support.
All that remains is to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
